Studies and Researches
1. Supports Heart Health
Research by Gavahian et al. (2019) has shown that consuming olive oil can help prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD) due to its high levels of bioactive compounds, particularly phenolic compounds such as oleocanthal, tyrosol, hydroxytyrosol, oleuropein, and oleuropein aglycone. The presence of carotenoids also provides significant health benefits. Additionally, active ingredients in olive oil, including provitamin A, β-carotene, and lutein, contribute to reducing the risk of heart disease.
Another study involving 12 healthy subjects (around 29 years old) supported the role of phenolic compounds in regulating genes linked to CVD. The consumption of phenolic-rich olive oil was found to regulate the excessive expression of miR-146b-5p (associated with atherosclerotic plaques) and miR-769–5p and miR-192–5p (linked to impaired glucose metabolism, fat accumulation in the liver, and acute myocardial infarction).

Olive oil intake also offers protection against high blood pressure. A study by Davis et al. (2017) involving 137 healthy subjects (aged 64 and above) found that consuming olive oil for three months significantly reduced systolic blood pressure. Storage and Consumption
